Stuart Scott 1965 – 2015

Stuart Scott 1965 – 2015, died Sunday morning after a lengthy battle with cancer. A sportscaster and ESPN anchor, SportsCenter is where Stuart last made his impact on sporting fans through his catch phrases and fired up personality. It may be so that Stuart didn’t originate the catch phrase “boo-yeah” he certainly made it well known to sporting fans across the nation.

At 49 years he perished in spite of a cancer that he had long been fighting since 2002. In a statement released by the White House, President Obama has paid tribute to Stuart Scott:

I will miss Stuart Scott. Twenty years ago, Stu helped usher in a new way to talk about our favorite teams and the day’s best plays. For much of those twenty years, public service and campaigns have kept me from my family — but wherever I went, I could flip on the TV and Stu and his colleagues on SportsCenter were there. Over the years, he entertained us, and in the end, he inspired us — with courage and love. Michelle and I offer our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and colleagues.

A great feat of a man representing the integrity of national sports will forever be remembered. And for the likelihood of Sports Center, heightened expectations will need to be undergone in order to fill the shoes of a legendary Sportscaster that is Stuart Scott.

Stuart Scott is survived by his two daughters.
